Yes, “Vohra Wound Care Nurse” or “VWCN” may be added to your set of credentials. After successful completion of the final exam, you will receive a certificate certifying you as a VWCN, Vohra Wound Certified Nurse.
Our program is not affiliated with any other national program. We are an independent national physician group with over 20 years of experience in wound care services. We developed this 100% online program as an affordable option for nurses and other allied medical professionals to expand their knowledge and earn a nationally recognized certificate as well as continuing nursing education credits, if applicable (continuing nursing education credits only applicable for the US).
I’m not a nurse, am I still eligible to register for the certification program?
Allied health professionals including physicians, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and medical assistants are eligible to take the course and earn the certification. However, the continuing education credits are only offered to nurses, that includes RNs, LPNs, LVNs, ARNPs.
Are you affiliated with the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy (NAWCO)?
Our program was developed by Vohra Wound Physicians, the largest group of wound clinicians in the United States, with more than 20 years of clinical experience providing wound care services to more than 2,500 skilled nursing facilities in 27 states, with thousands of patients treated every month. The Vohra Wound Care Certification is designed to share that level of experience and knowledge that will empower you to become a wound care expert within your facility. While our certification is not affiliated with the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy (NAWCO), you will still hold a set of credentials that represents Vohra’s reputation for excellence.
Furthermore, the CNE credits earned through the program are approved by the Maryland Nurses Association (MNA) and recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). The ANCC accreditation signifies that educational activities approved by MNA meet national standards for quality continuing nursing education. Having said that, please note that the state licensing boards of California and Iowa have some exceptions to their acceptance.
Will I be able to take the state boards after taking the class?
After successful completion of the final exam, you will receive a certificate credentialing you as a VWCN, Vohra Wound Certified Nurse. You will also earn continuing education credits, as applicable. Vohra is recognized nationally as an authority on wound care. However, our course was developed to provide entry level knowledge to nurses interested in wound care at an affordable price but was not written to specifically prepare individuals for the Board Certification Exam.
Which licensing boards accept the CNE credits?
All RN licensing boards nationwide acknowledge and accept contact hours from accredited providers. The state licensing boards of California and Iowa have put some caveats on their acceptance. Both the California Board of Registered Nursing and the Iowa board say that if the provider ENTERS their state and presents an activity, the provider must also apply to the that state’s board for approval, in order for the nurses from CA and IA to use the contact hours for renewing their licenses. The CA Board of Registered Nursing considers internet learning and other types of home study to be out-of-state, unless the provider is located in CA. They are in Sacramento, and their number is 916-322-3350. The Iowa Board of Nursing considers internet and other types of home study to be in-state. Their number is 515-281-3255.
Once I pass the course and earn my certificate, is there a recertification process?
Once you complete the program and earn your certificate, it will stay active forever. Therefore, there is no recertification process required.
Do you have to complete any clinical hours as part of the program?
No, there are no clinical hours required.
After taking and passing the course can I put WCC down as a title?
No, you will not be able to use WCC initials after completion of our course. After successful completion of the final exam, you will receive a certificate certifying you as a VWCN, Vohra Wound Certified Nurse. This is different than a WCC certification which is a separate program with WCEI. Our program is not affiliated with any other national program. We are an independent national physician group with over 20 years of experience in wound care services. We developed this 100% on line program as an affordable option for nurses and other allied medical professionals to expand their knowledge and earn a nationally recognized certificate as well as continuing education credits, if applicable.
Are the CNEs approved for Florida (or any state other than California and Iowa) nurses?
Yes, the CNEs are approved for Florida nurses. The credits earned through the program are approved by the Maryland Nurses Association (MNA) and are recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). The ANCC accreditation signifies that educational activities approved by MNA meet national standards for quality continuing nursing education.
Are the CNEs approved for Iowa or California?
The CNE credits are approved by the Maryland Nurses Association (MNA) and recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Is this program certified?
Vohra’s Wound Care Certification is internationally accredited as a CPD program, compatible with the required Continuing Professional Development global standards and benchmarks.
What CPD stands for?
CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. Engaging in Continuing Professional Development ensures that both academic and practical qualifications do not become outdated or obsolete, allowing individuals to continually ‘up skill’ or ‘re-skill’ themselves, regardless of occupation, age, or educational level.
Where is this accreditation accepted?
Whilst based in the UK, the CPD Certification Service accreditation operates internationally and meets the CPD requirements and expectations for all professional bodies, regulators and membership organizations across the globe. This means that a professional attending an accredited CPD training activity outside of the UK can receive a CPD Certificate of Attendance, which can then be used towards both national and international CPD requirements.
How is CPD recorded?
An individual is responsible of keeping track of their annual Continuing Professional Development activities on a CPD record form and must ensure it is correct, up to date and meets the requirements of their professional body of association. The CPD undertaken is recorded by a CPD Certificate of Attendance, CPD Self-Assessment forms and personal CPD Record Cards. Once a CPD certified activity has been delivered, the attendee can update their CPD record sheet and attach the associated certificate.
What are the benefits of CPD?
CPD helps individuals to regularly focus on how they can become a more competent and effective professional. Training and learning increases confidence, overall capability, and compliments career aspirations.
Who requires CPD?
Most institutions provide their members with Continuing Professional Development requirements generally as a required annual number of hours. These CPD hours are sometimes converted to points, units or credits. The majority of institutions allow members to choose subjects of relevance to them as individuals, a minority also require their members to seek CPD on a range of core subjects.
More and more employers are taking a proactive and supporting role with the CPD required by their employees. Aside from industry associations, CPD’s importance within general enterprise is growing, as more employers see the benefits of more highly skilled, motivated and committed workforce.
